“Make a statement!” “Step out of the box!” “Be original!” These statements are things that all businesses try to do. If they want to be successful, they need to be ahead of the competition. As a result, people are always trying to find new ways to make their business be the best.

It is easy to get in control of the big details, but what about the little details? It may not immediately come to your mind, but paper is a great way to get people’s attention and differentiate yourself. You might be asking yourself, how is this possible?!?! Well, it comes to two different key points: quality and impression.

Quality

There are THOUSANDS of different types of paper available. There are different colors, thicknesses and textures! With these different varieties, the quality of the print on the paper can vary. The paper can affect how vibrant the color is and it can even influence the tones of the colors printed on it.

Impression

When a business invests in a good quality paper it also makes the message more impactful. If a company receives a thank you card in the mail printed on cheap copy paper and another on a thicker textured paper it is not hard to know which one will stick out more. The message on the thicker paper is more impactful because it has a higher perceived worth. This will make the business take a second to stop and appreciate the message on it.

How Do I Determine What Paper to Buy?

When deciding on what type of paper to use it all depends on your message. If you are a company that sells outdoor equipment you could print your postcards on earthy-colored, textured, and/or recycled paper. Or if you are a high-tech company sending invitations to your grand opening, a thick cardstock that is a smooth, crisp white will do the trick!

No matter the occasion or the purpose for the use of the paper, get creative and have fun with it! The paper helps add to the overall message and impression that you give to your audience. Keeping all of this in mind will help make sure that you “make a statement!"
